Positive Directions presents World AIDS Day

In honor of World AIDS Day 2018, Positive Directions, Inc. will be featuring the film “Kids” (1995) *Rated NC-17* starring Chloe Sevigny and Rosario Dawson. This movie depicts a day in the life of unsupervised New York City teens during the height of the AIDS epidemic in mid-1990’s. This movie was specifically chosen to highlight the current increasing trends of new HIV/AIDS among young people ages 13-24 in Kansas.
This FREE event will start off with interactive educational activities and community partner resources followed by the movie and a candid Q&A discussion.
*WARNING: This movie is Not Rated. It is intended for mature audiences. It contains graphic sexual content, adult language, alcohol & drug use, & violence. This film could be triggering. (see below for the film’s synopsis.
Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to attend. Parents or guardians will be asked to sign a waiver signifying their understanding of the film’s content and then must remain with the minor for the duration of the film.

“Kids” Synopsis: Amoral teen Telly has made it his goal to sleep with as many girls as possible — but he doesn’t tell them that he’s HIV positive. While on the hunt for his latest conquest, Telly and his best friend, Casper, smoke pot and steal from shops around New York. Meanwhile, Jenny, one of Telly’s early victims, makes it her mission to save other girls from him.
