How Peace Activists Saved the World from Nuclear War

Dr. Lawrence Wittner, Emeritus Professor of History at the SUNY/Albany, is the author or editor of 13 books and of hundreds of articles, most of them about peace and foreign policy issues. They include the prize-winning scholarly trilogy, The Struggle Against the Bomb (Stanford University Press), which provides the basis for this talk.
He has received awards for his scholarship from the Peace History Society and from the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations, as well as major fellowships or grants from the American Council of Learned Societies, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the United States Institute of Peace.
Currently, he serves as co-chair of the national board of Peace Action, this nation’s largest grassroots peace organization.
