Homeless Awareness Night At City Hall
December 21, 2017 @ 2:00 pm - December 22, 2017 @ 2:00 pm
Today it became official. I have received verification of approval of our right to assemble peacefully on the front lawn of City Hall for our event on December 21 for the recognition on the National Day/Night for homelessness. We will meet at City Hall during the afternoon, I’ll be there at about 2pm and will be there until the next morning.
There will be a memorial service at St John’s Episcopal Church, 3rd and Topeka, starting at 7:30 pm, and all are invited to attend.
After the service, we’ll move back to city hall where we are encouraging people to “adopt” a homeless person for the night, sit and visit with them…learn their story, see how you might be help them..
We are also looking for corporate, religious, and Civic sponsors. We would like to have warm beverages, snacks, pizzas, burgers, whatever..
Other things that always help are hats, scarves, hand warmers, blankets, sleeping bags, coats..anything that will help someone keep warm.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to contact me, and I’ll try to get you the answer.
Lastly, please share this with everyone on your Facebook friends list, tell your neighbors and co-workers, spread the word at church, everywhere. Let’s show our less fortunate brothers and sisters that the citizens if Wichita really do care!
Also, if anyone can help with designing and printing some flyers for this event, it would really help.
Have a great day Wichita, and remember…the homeless are human too!!!!
