Global Learning in an Age of Myopic Nationalism
Sunday, March 18, 6:00 – 6:30 pm Socialize, 6:30 pm Dinner, 7:00 pm Program
In a real sense global learning has never been more accessible and yet more threatened in the United States of America. The tenor of nationalism in the current populist chant of “Make America Great Again!” signals a myopic view of U.S. history.
Diversity in learning, thinking and problem solving is a key feature of OUR American heritage. The challenge now is to document and carry-out
practical demonstrations of how the First Peoples, i.e., Indigenous Peoples, of this land can actually contribute to solutions for major societal problems facing our nation and globe today.
Dr. Daniel Wildcat is Acting Vice-President for Academics at Haskell Indian Nation University. His PhD is in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Dr. Wildcat has been active in Indigenous and other progressive organizations. He is a Yuchi member of Muscogee Nation.
