Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt has proposed repealing the Clean Power Plan, the first and only federal limit on carbon pollution from power plants that protects public health, promotes climate change solutions and encourages investment in clean energy.
When the Clean Power Plan was proposed under the Obama administration, EPA conducted extensive public outreach and solicited stakeholder feedback from every corner of the country. In contrast, Pruitt and the Trump administration are attempting to repeal these lifesaving standards with limited public engagement and transparency. Pruitt has so far held one hearing in Charleston, West Virginia on his plan to dismantle the Clean Power Plan. With new listening sessions scheduled to be held in San Francisco; Kansas City, Missouri; and Gillette, Wyoming, it is imperative that communities across the country continue to make their voices heard.
EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt is putting the interests of his corporate polluter cronies ahead of American families. Repealing the Clean Power Plan would worsen climate change, threaten our health, and place our communities in danger.
