Earthquake Discussion Hutchinson

May 16 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

A public forum involving Rep. Jason Probst and state officials regarding the earthquakes in Hutchinson will be 6 to 8 p.m., May 16 at the Hutchinson Hospital Pavilion which is on the East side of the hospital.
Officials from the Kansas Geological Survey, Kansas Corporation Commission and Kansas Department of Health and Environment are expected to be there, Probst said.
“The plan is to have KGS do a presentation on the science behind the recent earthquakes in Hutchinson,” he said. “Then we’ll have a panel discussion with the regulatory agencies. I plan to take questions on cards, similar to what the Chamber does for legislative forums.”
The forum, Probst said, will be a chance for people to hear directly from state agencies that deal with monitoring the earthquakes and regulating brine disposal wells officials have blamed for triggering them.
