12th Annual MLK, Jr. Commemoration

Reflect on the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as we collaboratively envision ways to carry forward his work, as well as participate in an impactful, inclusive and engaging celebration of his life. Hear musical selections from A.R.I.S.E. Ensemble and our featured keynote speaker, Teresa Lovelady, president and CEO of HealthCore Clinic, Inc.
Teresa Lovelady, MSW, MBA, is president & CEO of HealthCore Clinic, Inc. in Wichita, Kansas. Teresa has been a medical patient of the Clinic since 2003 and served as a consumer board member from May 2009 until transitioning into the role of CEO in 2011. She has been able to secure $10.7 Million in New Market Tax Credit funding to support a 40,000 sq. ft. expansion to the current facility. The integrated health facility includes medical, behavioral health, dental, 340B Pharmacy, legal services, fitness center, and a community garden with walking path, along with other enabling services. Since 2011, the annual budget for the Clinic has increased from $1.2 Million to $10 Million in 2019 serving more than 9,000 unduplicated patients. She participates on several community initiatives to reduce health disparities in the Wichita community and loves to support others. Ms. Lovelady was also named a 2017 HealthCare Hero and recognized as one of the 2019 Women that Lead by the Wichita Business Journal.
The 2020 Drum Major Award recipient will also be recognized. The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drum Major Award is presented to a Wichita State University administrator, faculty, staff or student who seeks greatness, but does so through service and love. This award is presented annually by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion during the on-campus Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity Commemoration.
