Black Student Union at Wichita State University is excited to host former Student Body President, Joseph Shepard as he launches his lecture series: “Waiting for Dr. King.” The event will be held October 5th, 2017 at 6:30pm in Hubbard Hall 211. Let’s pack the room for this empowering event.

Joseph Shepard empowers his voice to inspire students on college campuses with his impassioned message about leadership, specifically aimed at marginalized students. He expresses how, with resilience, purpose, passion and the support of allies, anyone, regardless of their background, can make a difference and kick open doors that future marginalized students can walk through.
As a local recognized voice on the topics of injustice, discrimination, diversity and equity, Joseph brings light to the importance of fighting for a seat at the table as a marginalized student. As a former Student Body President, Joseph sheds light on his experiences, the role students play in holding leaders in position of power accountable for their actions and the importance of mobilizing your opinion.
