The Peace Center mourns the assassination of Dr. George Tiller.
As people who have dedicated our lives to resolving social and
political problems without resort to violence or intimidation,
we condemn anyone who, for any reason or political persuasion,
no matter how fervently held, would take the law into their own
hands to harm, much less kill, someone who disagrees with them.
As much as we are devastated by the loss of Dr. Tiller, we are
fearful for a country where elected politicians calmly order
and delight in the execution of their enemies. Ever since 1991

What's Next Action group meeting: the all volunteer heart of our efforts to end the wars on Iraq and Afghanistan and work on other social justice issues. We meet the second and fourth Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. (With occasional other 10:30 Saturday meetings). Join in and help us move forward our Depleted Uranium Bill, Counter-Recruiting, War Tax Protest, USD 259 Opt-Out Follow-through, and other activities.

“Another Neighbor for PEACE” – yard signs available again. Let everyone know how you feel. The Peace Center now has a limited supply of 24” x 18” yard signs that can proclaim your commitment to peace. These signs are double sides with “Another Neighbor for PEACE” printed in large white letters against a light blue background. A dove with an olive branch completes the message. Wire stand are included. For only $5.00, let Wichita know how you feel about Peace. Saturdays are great days to come by, bumper sticker, peace buttons, yard sign and peace totem. Maher Musleh, Muslim Political Action Committee, and Rev. Michael Poage - Fairmount United Church of Christ, will be traveling to Cairo to join the Fellowship of Reconciliation, CodePink, and thousands of other peace & social justice people for the Break the Siege March on Gaza. Wichita Peace Activists will support the March with a New Year’s Eve candlelight vigil.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE TO PRESIDENT OBAMA'S PLAN FOR AFGHANISTAN

We all hoped that President Obama would resist the pressures from his generals not to send more troops to Afghanistan. Recently, Matthew Hoh, a former Marine and later a senior US official in Afghanistan, resigned in protest of the Afghan war. US Ambassador to Afghanistan, Karl Eikenberry, urged President Obama not to send more troops to Afghanistan, saying there is no military solution to the conflict.
